Statement
From the quiet rhythms of a childhood in South Korea, to the vertical granite of El Capitan, my life has been defined by search for stillness. My journey began in the mountains, where I learned discipline required to become a two time Korean National Rock Climbing Champion. Whether summiting Mt. Denali or navigation a difficult pitch, those rarest vantage points offered me a rare sense of Zen-like tranquility-a serenity I translate into my visual art.
My photography centers on the "picture within a picture"- the hidden abstract patterns discovered through patient observation. To capture this complexity, I utilize the intentional, technical process of 4x5 large format photography and the Zone System.
By personal composing, processing and framing each piece, I ensure that the final work reflects both the technical precision and the profound serenity of the natural world.
